Schools and Colleges – Our Presidents, Principals, and Plans

With Jamaica Elementary and Thunderbolt Middle achieving the highest possible rating in Arizona State Schools, they anchor a public school system our community proudly supports. In addition, a charter (tuition-free) K-12 preparatory school and a K-8 Christian Academy provide for school choice for Lake Havasu City families.

Mohave Community College offers dual enrollment courses for our best and brightest high-schoolers, college credit classes which transfer to Arizona state universities, as well as technical “career-based” programs.

Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona University currently leases space in Lake Havasu City and offers access to 74 bachelor and master's degree programs there, as well as certificates and endorsements through its distance learning program.

  • 4-Year University coming to Lake Havasu City: A decade-long project by a passionate and committed organization, the Havasu Foundation for Higher Education, is completing a “transforming event” for our community and region – the initiative to land either Arizona State University or Northern Arizona University (who has already sent a letter of commitment) or to build a campus on a 320-acre lake-side parcel in Lake Havasu City. The acquisition of this "Greenfield" site should be completed by September 2009. The multi-million dollar project will have innumerable ripple effect benefits, and further validate our city as one of the most compelling growth communities in America. Foundation director Dr. Bill Ullery says “A four year university coming to Lake Havasu City is an inevitability.” Please read below!

Move here and you will have no concerns regarding the education of your children and you will raise them in a virtually crime-free community with like-minded parents!

community activities."
- Paula Levensailor

"Moving to Lake Havasu City was one of the easiest transitions we have made in our lives. Because many others moved to our area from elsewhere, your neighbors will tend to take an active and sincere interest helping your family get comfortable in your new home." - Paul Olson

"October thru May is the best time of year to live in Lake Havasu City. The weather just can’t be beat! Our sunsets are amazing all year long. My family loves to go camping and going for rides in our jeep and on our quads." - Stephanie Schulzkump

"We are a growing community where folks really care and want to be involved in making it a better place to live." - Sandy Breece

"The kindness and generosity demonstrated by Lake Havasu City is amazing. My wife volunteers for a local charity (St. Vincent De Paul) and the community has clearly demonstrated a willingness to give of their abundance." - Nicholas Sanchez, PhD

Recruiting a University to Havasu

A Four Year University is on the way to Lake Havasu City! This was President Obama giving the 2009 commencement speech at Arizona State University. Our dreams of bringing a major university to our community are coming true after years of hard work by committed city leaders. Another reason to choose Lake Havasu City as your next home is to help us support and watch grow our own university. We’re eyeing Arizona State or NAU. Learn about this incredible initiative and the massive effort that turned a dream into reality.
